In 1998, the Labour Court rejected the Amalgamated Transport And General Workers' Union’s appeal and upheld a Rights Commissioner's recommendation that a worker’s dismissal by Abbeyfeale Community Leisure Limited was not unfair. The decision was signed on 27 April 1998. The union alleged that the worker was unfairly dismissed and had faced insults and harassment. It said he was victimised after contacting FAS about problems on the scheme. The employer said it reduced the scheme workforce because there was insufficient work and the worker was among those laid off.
