The Labour Court affirmed the decision that Brigid (Beatrice) Burns was not unfairly dismissed when Component Distributors (CD Ireland) Ltd closed its Dublin finance department and centralised the finance function in Northern Ireland. The determination was dated 8 October 2018. Burns had argued that the company did not sufficiently consider alternatives to redundancy and had not followed fair procedures. The Court found that the company considered alternative roles and that Burns’s credit-controller job no longer existed after the closure. It concluded that the dismissal was wholly redundancy connected and rejected her complaint.
