Labour Court says Gerald McGuinness’s appeal against Prepay Power fails

The Labour Court said Gerald McGuinness’s appeal against Prepay Power failed after he left before it opened and was not present to advance it. In a decision dated 6 December 2023, the Court affirmed the Adjudication Officer’s decision; the merits were not decided. The appeal concerned a complaint under the Terms of Employment (Information) Acts. Mr McGuinness had said he was withdrawing all his appeals that day, but the Court found his statement too general to treat this appeal as withdrawn. Both parties had attended the hearing venue before he left.
