The Labour Court reduced a €1,600 award to €400 after partly upholding Redweld Engineering Limited’s appeal over a missing employment statement. In a determination signed on 26 April 2017, the Court found that Redweld had breached the Terms of Employment (Information) Act by failing to provide Christopher Royle with a statement of his employment particulars. Redweld accepted it had not provided the statement. The Court found the adjudication officer’s compensation excessive in the circumstances and ordered Redweld to pay Royle €400 within six weeks.
