Labour Court sets aside redundancy-payment decision after appeal hearing

The Labour Court set aside an Adjudication Officer’s decision in a redundancy-payment complaint by Valerie Rothery against Paul Ferris & Evita Styles Ltd, finding the complaint not well founded. The Court signed its decision on 16 December 2024. Rothery did not attend the appeal hearing, and the Court received no evidence supporting her claim against the named respondent. Paul Ferris sought to have his name removed, saying he was not the employer; the Court said it had no jurisdiction to amend the original decision’s party names.
