The Labour Court rejected Emer Moran’s payment-of-wages appeal against Penn Plax Incorporated. Its determination was signed on 12 February 2020, and the Adjudication Officer’s decision was affirmed. Moran said bank charges and a €7.72 payroll deduction meant she received less than the wages due. The Court found the two €6.35 charges were applied by her bank, not the employer, and that the €7.72 deduction was statutory Universal Social Charge and lawful. It determined Penn Plax was not in breach of the Act.
