The Workplace Relations Commission found Martina Tierney’s unpaid wages complaint against Nord Events Ltd well founded and awarded her €2,321.75. She said she had worked 119.5 hours preparing for and administering catering at Forest Fest; the agreed rate was €18.50 an hour. In a decision dated 29 September 2026, WRC Adjudication Officer Pat Brady found Tierney was employed under a contract of service. Nord Events cited event difficulties, including reduced turnover and food quality complaints, to explain the non-payment. Brady said trading losses did not justify withholding wages properly due. The respondent did not attend the hearing.
