The Labour Court varied an employer’s appeal decision and ordered Inspection Services Ireland Limited to pay Miro Krpeta €7,961 in six weeks’ gross wages in lieu of notice. The determination is dated 1 March 2023. Krpeta, a cargo surveyor who later became Operations Manager, was dismissed in March 2019. An Adjudication Officer had upheld his minimum notice complaint and awarded six weeks’ salary. The Labour Court had separately upheld his unfair dismissal claim. The Court found the minimum notice complaint well founded. Employees with at least ten years but less than fifteen years of service are entitled to six weeks’ notice. The Court varied the earlier decision and ordered the company to pay the six weeks’ gross wages in lieu of notice.
