The Labour Court set aside the WRC decision against John Walsh and ordered Roadbridge Civil Engineering & Building Contractors Roadbridge Ltd to pay him €7,901.32 in outstanding notice pay. The determination was dated 4 September 2023. Walsh had worked for Roadbridge since 2002 and was made redundant in April 2022 after the company entered receivership. He had been transferred to the UK in 2021 and received €5,528.20 in statutory redundancy from UK authorities. The WRC adjudicator had found his complaint not well founded after Walsh failed to attend the hearing. A parallel case established that he was covered by Irish redundancy law, and the Court concluded that he was also covered by minimum notice legislation. It calculated his entitlement as eight weeks' pay, or €13,429.52, and ordered the balance, subject to any necessary currency adjustment.
