The Labour Court set aside the earlier decision and ordered John Lee Electrical Limited to pay Sam Telford €1,131, representing two weeks’ wages in lieu of notice. The determination was signed on 21 August 2019. Telford, an apprentice, found other work while on temporary lay-off. The company accepted that it terminated his employment. It said it had work available when it issued his P45 but assumed he would not be interested because he had found work elsewhere. The Court found the complaint well founded.
