The Labour Court recommended that Cork University Dental School and Hospital bring a Dental Nurse Tutor’s rate of pay into line with the Clinical Nurse Manager 1 rate from 31 October 2008. The recommendation was signed on 12 July 2010. The worker, represented by the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union, sought parity with a colleague at Dublin Dental Hospital. The hospital argued that the Dublin colleague had been placed on a higher scale by mistake. The Court said there was no logical or justifiable reason for paying the same post differently in Cork, and that the university had misunderstood the established Dublin rate.
