The Labour Court recommended that HSE South East and a group of clinical nurse specialists engage an experienced mediator to address workplace difficulties raised by the workers’ union. The recommendation was signed on 12 July 2010. The union alleged the workers had been undermined and denied recognition, and that the employer had not followed the Dignity at Work procedures. HSE South East said the issues concerned development of the clinical nurse specialist role, could be addressed through the grievance process, and that no complaint had been initiated under the Dignity at Work policy. The union agreed to mediation, and the Court recommended that the parties agree terms of reference and review the process if it remained incomplete after three months.
