The Labour Court recommended that PJ Carroll & Co Ltd increase its severance offer to 66 workers facing redundancy at its Dundalk plant, with 1.5 weeks of the six-week annual ex-gratia payment exempt from the proposed cap of 3.5 years’ pay. It recommended that the final offer, with this change, be accepted. The unions—SIPTU, ATGWU, TEEEU and AMICUS—had sought a larger package. The recommendation was signed on 6 December 2005.
