The Labour Court recommended that the operative group at Glaxo Smithkline continue changing gloves in manufacturing glove boxes, work the Court said the group had undertaken before. The recommendation was dated 17 November 2005. The dispute arose after process operators refused to continue the work, amid disagreement over whether operators or craftsmen were responsible. Services Industrial Professional Technical Union disputed that glove changing was a long-established practice and said it had begun without the union’s knowledge or agreement. The Court said any dispute about the division of work should be resolved between the unions through the appropriate ICTU procedures.
