Labour Court recommends enhanced redundancy terms for 67 Clubman Omega staff

The Labour Court recommended that Clubman Omega Ltd pay a redundancy lump sum equal to 1.5 weeks' pay per year of service, in addition to statutory terms, for 67 employees at its Buncrana plant. It signed the recommendation on 17 November 2005. The recommendation followed the company's decision to outsource production to lower-cost labour markets. The Services Industrial Professional Technical Union argued that staff would struggle to find work locally and that their long service justified enhanced terms. Clubman Omega said it could not afford to increase its costs and had lost important contracts. The union agreed to be bound by the recommendation.
