The Labour Court recommended that Teagasc pay €500 compensation to a worker after finding that telling her on a Friday to move from Ballinamore to Mohill the following Monday was unacceptable and contrary to custom and good practice. It accepted management’s right to transfer her but criticised the short notice and the way the move was handled. The Services Industrial Professional Technical Union also sought travel expenses while Ballinamore remained open. Teagasc said there was no work for the employee there and the transfer was allowed under her terms and conditions. The recommendation was signed on 23 March 2004.
