In 2002, the Labour Court recommended discussions between Eaton Automotive Limited and the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union over call-out arrangements for maintenance workers at Manorhamilton. The union sought three hours at double time followed by overtime if workers had to cover call-outs. The company said its existing rate of three hours at overtime applied across the board. The Court said it was not reasonable to expect the workers to accept that the 1997 agreement covered them, and recommended talks on other ways to cover the duty and, if necessary, payment. Current arrangements were to continue in the meantime. The recommendation was signed on 20 December 2002.
