The Labour Court recommended national discussions on the criteria for meal allowances after six Securicor Omega Express couriers on Limerick city routes sought the €7.62 daily payment made to couriers on qualifying country routes. The recommendation was dated 17 December 2003. The Services Industrial Professional Technical Union pointed to arrangements in other branches. Securicor Omega Express said city-based Cork couriers had received the allowance in error and that extending it could have national cost implications. The Court cited those implications and unclear company correspondence in recommending talks.
