In 2003, the Labour Court recommended that the Joint Industrial Relations Forum increase an ex-gratia payment to a worker in a Bus Eireann - Limerick overtime dispute. It said the Forum's €500 payment was low in the circumstances but set no revised amount. The recommendation was signed on 17 December 2003. The Services Industrial Professional Technical Union had sought €3,174.35 for lost overtime after Acting Foremen covered annual leave from 6 June to 28 August 2001. Bus Eireann - Limerick said the worker had maintained high earnings and cited health and safety concerns. The Court said the usual cover arrangement had been changed without discussion and agreement with the union, and that the earlier arrangement would have allowed the worker to earn significantly more.
