The Labour Court recommended that Boxmore Plastics pay each loader a £500 ex-gratia lump sum to settle a claim over shunting duties. Its recommendation was signed on 10 December 2001. The Court did not recommend a grade change for loaders. The Services Industrial Professional Technical Union also sought a higher differential for six print setters. The Court recommended further talks on developing their role, which might justify a pay increase. Boxmore employed more than 200 workers at Ballyconnell, Co. Cavan.
