The Labour Court recommended that Laserform (Ireland) Limited discuss a settlement with Irish Print Group (SIPTU) over a claim for the second phase of the Programme for Prosperity and Fairness pay increases. The recommendation was signed on 10 December 2001. The union sought increases of 5.5% from 1 May 2000 and 2% from 1 April 2001. Laserform cited losses, a volatile market and substantial loan and lease repayments. The union pointed to workers’ cooperation and savings from two unfilled roles, and said the company had sold a building in Drogheda. The Court noted that Laserform had reached an agreement with another union on the same claim and recommended discussion on a similar basis.
