The Labour Court recommended that St Anne's Nursing Home accept modified Labour Relations Commission proposals on pay and grant workers retrospective annual and public holiday entitlements from the introduction of the Organisation of Working Time Act, 1997. The Services Industrial Professional Technical Union sought £5 an hour for eight workers, mainly in catering, cleaning and care, and retrospective holiday payments. The employer said it could not afford the claim and reported paying £4.40 an hour, or £25 per shift for cooks. The recommendation was dated 4 July 2000.
