The Labour Court recommended that Jetwash Limited recognise the Technical, Engineering And Electrical Union for employees who were members of the union. The recommendation, which the union had agreed to accept, was signed on 10 December 1999. The union sought to represent members on employment conditions, including pay, hours, health and safety, sick pay, pensions and breaks. Jetwash said only a minority of workers supported recognition and that it preferred to deal directly with staff.
