In 1998, the Labour Court recommended that Maysteel Teoranta fund an alternative transport service for two years after proposing to withdraw its minibus service for six workers travelling from Galway city. The Amalgamated Transport And General Workers' Union represented the workers. The Court recommended compensation of £960 or £1,200 per member, as appropriate, and 96 weeks of overtime or equivalent compensation for the minibus driver. The minibus collection would then be discontinued.
