The Labour Court recommended that Fulflex International’s proposals on the 39-hour week agreement be accepted, with the implementation date changed to one month after the recommendation dated 30 April 1997. Services Industrial Professional Technical Union (SIPTU) sought a retrospective change to the hourly divisor from 1/40 to 1/39. Fulflex said it had honoured the 1989 agreement and proposed some retrospection. The Court said misunderstandings underlay the dispute and considered the company’s proposals reasonable. SIPTU could instead retain the 1989 agreement and 1/40 divisor.
