The Labour Court recommended that the 1990/1991 agreement between the Southern Health Board and the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union conclude the dispute over compensation for transferred nurses. The recommendation was signed on 28 July 1994. Forty-two nurses who transferred from St. Finan's Hospital in Killarney to Tralee General Hospital each received £546 under the agreement. The union sought further compensation, arguing the national formula would have provided £61,000 for the group, compared with £23,000 paid under the local agreement.
