In 1994, the Labour Court recommended that LRC Limited give the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union representation rights on individual issues affecting its members, while general issues continued under existing arrangements. The recommendation was signed on 28 April 1994. The Court noted that a minority of the company’s workers had joined the union and a majority belonged to an elected works committee. It said the arrangement should be reviewed if and when a majority of workers opted for union membership.
