In 1993, the Labour Court recommended a 3% pay increase at Dawn Dairies, with different arrangements for drivers and dairy workers. The recommendation was dated 23 December 1993. The Services Industrial Professional Technical Union sought the increase under the PESP. The Court recommended that commission and non-commission drivers receive it as a fixed payment outside basic pay, while dairy workers receive it on basic pay. It also recommended accepting the company’s proposals on cash payments and clocking, applying the increase retrospectively to the first conciliation conference, and reviewing pay arrangements in early 1994.
