Labour Court declines union’s pay-parity claim at Spaights Timber Preservatives

The Labour Court did not recommend conceding the Marine Port And General Workers Union’s claim for pay parity at Spaights Timber Preservatives Limited. The recommendation was signed on 20 February 1992. The union sought parity with workers at James McMahon Limited for 15 employees at Monard. The Court said local rate-setting meant the parity case could not be sustained and that adjustments under other headings would fall outside the P.E.S.P.
