Labour Court recommends review of Waterford Foods bagging-line staffing

In 1991, the Labour Court recommended that Waterford Foods PLC and the Amalgamated Transport And General Workers' Union assess the work on the Dungarvan bagging line and negotiate after reviewing it. The recommendation was signed on 7 October 1991. The dispute followed a proposal to cut staffing from seven workers to five. Waterford Foods said the changes would not cause redundancies or reduce pay because workers would be redeployed. The union argued that another reduction would affect the unit's efficiency; staffing had already fallen from eight to seven, with the seven-worker level in place from 1 August 1991.
