In 1991, the Labour Court recommended that the Irish Distributive And Administrative Trade Union accept Limerick Distributive Trades’ position that the third phase of the Programme for National Recovery should apply to the 30th pay round. The recommendation was signed on 25 February 1991. The union had sought an 8% pay increase for 12 months and improvements to employment terms, including pro-rata conditions for part-time staff. The Court also recommended local negotiations on staff discounts and deferring the part-time workers’ claims pending enactment of the relevant bill.
