In 1991, the Labour Court recommended a new weekly pay scale for Killarney Golf Club bar staff, from £105 to £165, with a £15 chargehand differential. It rejected the union's request for additional holidays and recommended discussions to regularise overtime and pay for hours worked beyond the end of a shift. Services Industrial Professional Technical Union argued that pay lagged comparable local employment and raised concerns about unsocial hours and overtime. Management said the bar and course staff were separate groups and proposed a pay scale. The recommendation was signed on 10 January 1991.
