The Workplace Relations Commission found that Alan Tobin was unfairly dismissed by D & K Home Renovations Ltd Stoves 4U and ordered the company to pay €33,481 in compensation. It also ordered €755 for dismissing him without the required week's notice. The decision was dated 23 May 2025.
Tobin said he was summarily dismissed after a dispute over messages concerning a company director. The company said he resigned after handing back his keys and that his job remained open. The adjudicator found, on the balance of probabilities, that he was dismissed without an investigation or due process. The WRC upheld both his unfair-dismissal and minimum-notice complaints.
