In 1990, the Labour Court recommended compensation for six staff laid off by Shannon Heritage Limited, following a dispute with the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union. The recommendation was signed on 27 September 1990. The Court recommended £1,000 each for Gerard Treacy, Patrick Malone, Susan Kennelly and Ken Menton, and £500 each for Michael Swords and Michael Brody. It also recommended that the company and union agree future contract terms, including for winter 1990, taking account of staffing needs and workers’ expectations.
