In 1989, the Labour Court did not recommend conceding the Local Government And Public Services Union’s claim for a new assessment of Dundalk Urban District Council water inspectors’ work. The recommendation was signed on 4 September 1989. The union said the inspectors’ duties had become more responsible and complex since the previous assessment in 1981, and said it would accept the result of a fair new evaluation. The council said their duties and responsibilities had not changed to any degree since then.
