The Labour Court recommended that Harp (Ireland) Limited and the Harp Ireland Staff Association accept settlement terms for salaried brewery staff under the company’s five-year plan. The recommendation was signed on 27 April 1989. The Association sought payments comparable to those agreed for other brewery workers. The company said its settlement proposals were consistent with the five-year agreement. After considering the parties’ submissions and negotiations, the Court recommended acceptance of the terms in the Industrial Relations Officer’s letter of 1 September 1988. These included £2,300 on acceptance and payments of £300 in January 1989 and January 1990.
