The Labour Court did not recommend conceding Amalgamated Engineering Union’s claim against Thermo King Europe for compensation after 22 general operatives were temporarily moved between sites. The recommendation was signed on 19 January 1989. The assembly department moved from Mervue to Ballybane in August 1987 and returned to Mervue in May 1988. The union cited lost facilities and additional travel time; Thermo King Europe said employees had not objected and pointed to kitchen facilities at Ballybane.
