The Labour Court recommended that Limerick Corporation not concede the Irish Distributive And Administrative Trade Union’s claim to regrade two stores office assistants and an assistant supervisor as clerical officers. The recommendation was signed on 10 January 1989. The union argued that the workers’ clerical and administrative duties and comparable grades in other local authorities supported regrading. Limerick Corporation said their duties were narrower, they lacked the required qualifications and regrading could affect pay and staffing. The Court said there was insufficient evidence to support the claim.
