In 1988, the Labour Court recommended adding a further 1% for each quarter in which Thermo King Europe's plant or factory output reached 60 B.S.I. Thermo King Europe argued that productivity gains were needed to protect jobs and its Galway plant. The union said the proposed pay increase did not fairly match the productivity increase sought.
