In 1988, the Labour Court recommended that Shannonside Co-Operative Limited pay each of 12 supervisors £300 in full and final settlement of their other claims. The recommendation was signed on 31 May 1988. The Court also recommended that the claimants accept the company’s 27th Wage Round offer: 3% from 1 April 1987 and 1.5% from 1 October 1987, over a 16-month agreement to be followed by the National Plan. The Irish Transport and General Workers’ Union had sought a productivity payment, a 6% wage-round increase and repayment of £150 deducted after an unofficial strike. Shannonside said productivity was already reflected in supervisors’ salary arrangements, and the general workforce had accepted its wage-round offer. The Court recommended the company’s offer for the wage round and a £300 payment for each claimant to settle the remaining claims.
