The Labour Court recommended an increase of 2% in the salary of Bord Na Gcon’s accountant, following a change in the organisation’s executive structure. The recommendation was signed on 8 May 1987.
The Association of Scientific, Technical and Managerial Staffs argued that the accountant had taken on additional responsibilities, including handling the chief executive’s correspondence and making decisions in his absence. Bord Na Gcon disputed that his responsibilities had appreciably increased, though it accepted that some duties may have become more frequent.
