The Labour Court allowed Metropolitan Films International Ltd’s appeal and set aside the adjudication officer’s decision in Raymond Lyons’s fixed-term work case. The Court’s decision was dated 7 August 2024. Lyons claimed that successive fixed-term contracts lacked objective justification and that he should have been offered a contract of indefinite duration. Metropolitan Films said Lyons had never been its employee; he was employed by Badlands Three TV Productions DAC on the production of Into the Badlands Season 3. The Court found that the production company employed Lyons and that there was no evidence he had been employed by Metropolitan Films. It therefore allowed the employer’s appeal and set aside the earlier decision.
