The Labour Court has set aside a WRC finding that Virgin Media Ireland discriminated against Sian Shepherd on family status grounds in a promotion competition after her maternity leave. The determination, signed on 12 December 2024, found that Shepherd had not established facts from which the Court could infer less favourable treatment.
Shepherd said she was marked down on flexibility and attitude because she was a parent of a young child. The Court noted that the candidates placed ahead of her were also parents of young children.
