The Workplace Relations Commission found that the Irish Prison Service failed to give Norman Mullen written notice when it removed his No Nights roster, changing his working hours. In a decision dated 2 June 2026, the WRC awarded him three weeks’ remuneration and directed the Service to give written notice of future changes to his employment terms.
Mullen told the adjudicator that he had held a No Nights arrangement before taking a Work Training Officer role and later received a 12-month No Nights roster, which was removed shortly afterward. The WRC accepted his undisputed evidence. The Service did not attend the hearing.
