WRC rejects carpenter’s unpaid wages and written-terms complaints

The Workplace Relations Commission found a carpenter’s complaints about unpaid wages and written terms of employment not well founded in a decision dated 16 June 2026. He said he was owed €3,340 for work between 8 April and 26 May 2025, having received €300 in cash, and had not been given a contract. The employer denied employing him, saying he worked for a subcontractor. The adjudicator found he had named the wrong respondent, noting that the subcontractor’s owner dealt with his pay and directed him to two Dublin sites. The respondent director’s evidence was consistent and supported by invoices, while the carpenter could not provide messages or employment-history records.
