WRC dismisses Beaumont Hospital team leader’s allowance claim on time-limit grounds

The Workplace Relations Commission dismissed Catherine Fisher’s claim against Beaumont Hospital for an unpaid team-leader allowance, finding it was outside the 12-month limit. The decision was dated 23 February 2026. Fisher said she was seeking backdated 8% pay from 2017 to 2024 after taking the team-leader role in 2017. The hospital said public-sector pay rules prevented it from paying outside the prescribed structure. The adjudicator said the legislation provided no exception to the time limit, despite Fisher’s efforts to resolve the matter through the hospital’s grievance process.
