WRC dismisses Vicki Clough’s probation complaint on time-limit grounds

The Workplace Relations Commission found it had no jurisdiction to hear Vicki Clough’s complaint that Design & Craft Council, Ireland unlawfully extended her probation. The decision, dated 2 March 2026, said the complaint was referred more than six months after the extension took effect on 2 December 2024. Clough said she had not received performance concerns before being told her probation would be extended. The respondent said a review found low scores in several competency areas. The WRC treated the extension as a discrete act and dismissed the complaint on time-limit grounds; it made no finding on whether the extension breached the Act and awarded no compensation.
