The Workplace Relations Commission (WRC) upheld Noelia Ucha’s complaint against Derglee Taverns Ltd t/a Brogan’s Bar & Restaurant and directed €100 compensation in a decision dated 12 January 2026. Ucha said her final week’s pay had been withheld because the employer said she owed the cost of her work permit. The company said it was not seeking a permit fee and described a €346.15 deduction for prepaid annual leave. The adjudication officer found no lawful basis to deduct permit costs, but accepted the annual leave deduction. The amount properly payable for the final week was €230.77 gross, and the nil payment was contrary to the Payment of Wages Act.
