WRC says worker’s reported workplace assault dispute should be closed

The Workplace Relations Commission recommended that a worker consider a dispute over the handling of a reported workplace assault closed. The recommendation was dated 12 January 2026. The worker said he was assaulted at work on 7 January 2025 and that the employer delayed its investigation. The employer said it investigated the incident within three months and kept him informed. The adjudication officer found the incident had been investigated within a reasonable timeframe. The officer also noted that the worker had referred the dispute to the WRC without first raising a grievance about how the investigation was handled, and recommended that he deem the matter closed.
