The Workplace Relations Commission has directed Unity Healthcare Services to pay Nicola Sibanda €30,420 in compensation after finding her complaint of unpaid wages well founded. Adjudication Officer Breiffni O'Neill dated the decision 13 February 2026.
Sibanda said she was offered healthcare assistant work at €585 a week and promised a start shortly after arriving in Ireland, but never began work despite repeated promises. The officer found she remained employed and was owed wages for 20 June to 19 December 2024. The respondent made no submissions. The WRC also rejected a separate claim covering an earlier period, finding it had no jurisdiction after declining to extend the time limit.
